March 1st

Per’s Newsletter for the week of March 1st.
Happy Friday everybody!  What a week it’s been here in the IA.  First I would like to congratulate all of those kids who showed amazing improvement on their spelling quiz for this week.  A lot of kids worked really hard on practicing a pretty difficult list and for those who did their homework the results really showed that.  We also had a great week getting ready for the start of this year’s TCAP exams.  We have been honing our reading, writing, math and science skills all year and now is our time to show it.  I will have more information about TCAP later in the newsletter.
Sound of Music
This is the big weekend!  Reviews are in from last night’s performance and it sounds like this is quite a show.  There are still three shows left, one tonight at 7 PM, a matinee Saturday at 1 PM and a Saturday evening show at 7PM.  You can purchase tickets the day of the performance for $10 adults/ $7 students/children under 12 (if you bring 2 non-perishable food items you will receive $2 off the at-the-door ticket price).  Come support a huge cast and crew from all levels of our PK-12 community. All those involved would like to thank the numerous parent and community volunteers who have dedicated their time, energy, and creativity. We'll see you all at the show!

TCAP
It is that time of year again.  TCAP will start on Monday with 5th grade science and then continue on until Friday the 15th of March.  Please make sure that your student is at school on time on those days if possible, so we can make sure everything is taken care of before we start.  I would also like to request that if you student has a cell phone, ipod/ipad or other electronic device, that they leave it at home for testing days.  It is very important that they are nowhere near the testing area, so I already asked kids to leave them at home.  If that is not possible, we do have a secure place to keep them during testing.  Make sure the kids get plenty of rest and we’ll see them on Monday, ready to rock!
Thanks and have a great weekend, make sure you check the website (http://persadvising.blogspot.com) for more dates, homework, and information.
