Friday Newsletter

Per’s Newsletter for the week of May 24th.
Hi folks!  Well, we finally made it, the last Friday of the year and what a year it has been!  However, it is not over yet we have a full and fun week next week to look forward to.
We will come back on Tuesday (No school Monday due to Memorial Day) and celebrate with an end of the year pancake party.  I will provide pancakes and eggs, but we are asking 5th graders to bring in some beverages and 4th graders to bring any other breakfast sides (fruit, coffee cake etc.).
Wednesday will be our end of the year Picnic.  See the note from Rosie below for more details about the picnic.  In the classroom we will have on display, some of our writing pieces from the end of the year.  Stop by the room during the picnic and check them out, maybe even leave a comment in our comment books.
End of the Year Picnic
On Wednesday, May 29th we are going to have our all school end of the year picnic to celebrate the year and all that we have accomplished together.  The picnic will begin at 11:30 a.m. with hot dogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, watermelon, chips and a drink for everyone to enjoy.  Parents, grandparents and siblings are welcome to join us in this end of the year celebration.  The following activities will be set up for people to enjoy once their bellies are full: volleyball, soccer, badminton, 4 square, Frisbee, paddleball, bubbles, jump roping and more.
At around 12:45 p.m., people will have a chance to cool off in the sprinklers and on the slip and slides, so be sure to bring your swimsuit, a towel and/or a change of clothes.  Sunscreen is another important item to bring and/or wear to the picnic. Around 1:45 p.m. the sprinklers will be turned off and the water fight will begin.  If people don’t want to get wet, they can continue playing the other activities that we have set up.  Popsicles will be handed out at 2:45 p.m., followed by a big clean up of the field.
If you have any questions, please call and leave a message at #303-982-7056.  We look forward to a fun day of eating and playing together.  Cross your fingers for good weather!

We will wrap it all up with a short day on Thursday (school gets out at 1:30) that will be full of fun activities, like the balloon ceremony for our 6th graders, and end of year clean up.
Pet mice Summer Home
We are also looking for a home for our two pet mice.  They have a tank with all the necessary accessories and about a half a bag of bedding and a newish bag of food.  They are pretty easy to take care of (clean out their bedding every week or so and check their food and water on a regular basis) and I would normally take them home, but I’m afraid my cats might make a snack out of them.  If you think your family might be willing to watch after them for the summer, I would be greatly appreciative.
Thanks and have a great weekend, make sure you check the website (www.persadvising.blogspot.com) for more dates and information.
