Per’s Newsletter for the week of January 18th
Happy Friday everybody!  First of all I would like to apologize about the lack of contact over the last few weeks.  I hope everybody had a great break.  Things are off and rolling in the IA as we kick off 2013.  We are starting off with a plant science study to get us ready for the school garden in the spring and it could be a lot of fun.  I would also like to announce the arrival of the two new additions to our class.  In October and November, we held an election that would re-write the history books when we decided on a class pet.  After grueling debates and a very close final decision, we elected a pair of mice to be our class pets.  So if you have the time, come on up and say hi to our new friends.
Spring Trip
The location and dates of our spring trip have been decided and I am very excited about what we have chosen.  The trip will be from Tuesday the 14thof May through Friday the 17th and we will be going to John Martin Reservoir just outside of Las Animas in south-eastern Colorado.  The reservoir hosts a variety of recreational activities and is within a short distance of some historically significant areas as well.  As always we will need parent volunteers to go on the trip so if you are interested, please let me know as soon as possible.
Important Dates Coming up
There are a few important dates coming up in the next few weeks, the first being just on the other side of this weekend.  In observance of Martin Luther King Day there will be no school on Monday January 21st.  Then on January 30th there will be a half day, so school will end at 1:00 p.m.
The Class Website
I just wanted to let everybody know that the class website is the quickest and easiest way to find out important dates and to check to see what kind of homework your student should be working on.  The address ishttp://persadvising.blogspot.com.  While you are there, check out some of the photos from our class and feel free to leave comments on my posts if you see something that we could make better about the site.

Thanks and have a great weekend,
Per
